No matter how well you care for your teeth, you may still be suffering from periodontal disease. Periodontal disease is an infection of the gums and bone that surround and support your teeth. Its is a major cuase of tooth loss in adjults. Painless and slow-growing, periodontal disease is a serious condition that sometimes requires aggressive treatment. After a comprehensive periodontal screening, if disease is present, Dr. Rigden may recommend non-surgical gum therapy.
The top three non-surgical periodontal treatments are local medication, curettage, and root-planning. All can be done in our office, and you may be given local anesthesia to keep you more comfortable. No matter which treatment or combination of treatments Dr. Rigden chooses, keep in mind that the treatment will likely take place over time, as Dr. Rigden tries a treatment and then assesses its effectiveness.
